I received word from Michael Young that Sing We Now of Christmas earned over $1000, all of which was donated to the National Down Syndrome Society. All further proceeds will be continued to be donated there. It has been a really neat experience to work with such a great group of writers, editors, and designers on a project where all labor and talents were given without compensation for a cause.
Sing We Now of Christmas is the first volume of a three-part Christmas anthology project. The second volume will be titled Carol of the Tales and will be coming out this fall. It will include two of my stories, one of Brian's, and another that we wrote together. I'll be keeping you posted! :)

No, I won't tell you which stories are mine or Brian's, so you'll just have to vote blindly and be surprised!

Why It's Okay That I Didn't Win NaNoWriMo This Year:
- 14,500 (29%) is better than zero.

- I made myself write A LOT, which really helped work me out of a rut.
- I made/encouraged Brian to write a lot, so ditto for him.
- Having the LDSP Christmas story contest deadline this month was totally not fair. It took me hours to polish up submission-ready stories, hours that could have been pumping out many thousands of raw, unpolished story. Plus, she didn't even give much of a heads-up about this, so there wasn't much time in October to prepare. But, I'll quit my whining. I'm glad I emerge from November with two finished stories.
- 11/30 was the first day all month that my kids actually napped at the same time (they've been tag-teaming it all month, which means no mommy break time).
- Even just the participation badge is pretty spiffy this year, so I'm glad I at least tried!
- I won the last two years in a row (2011 and 2010), so 2:1 is pretty still pretty good.
- It's 12/1 and instead of burned out, I'm on a roll. I'm ready to keep my goals going this next month (and hopefully the month after that, and the one after that...) instead of feeling like my brain is fried and I have a million projects/chores I have to catch up on. I feel so energetic and free!
- I have a reason to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo in the summer. Twice a year is too much, but now it will be a chance to make up for my imperfect November.

LDS Publisher 2012 Christmas Story Contest
I submitted two stories and Brian submitted one to this year's LDS Publisher Christmas Story Contest. This is our fourth year participating, and we love it! It was pretty crazy getting final drafts finished during November, but I'm still grateful for the opportunity to finish and submit something. I'll update later when the stories are posted.P.S. The nice thing about the contest deadline being before December even start is that now that it really is Christmastime, I keep thinking of stories to write for next year . . . :)

Sing We Now of Christmas
Sing We Now of Christmas is now available! It features one of my stories and one of Brian's. This is a pretty special project because 100% of the work put into this book have been donated and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charity. Take a look at http://adventanthology.wordpress.com/.
It has been really fun for me to work with two awesome teams of LDS writers this year throughout the process of putting together two Christmas anthologies.
